When it comes to buying anything for your gaming rig, it’s probably already a given you’d shoot for something gamer-centric. Flashy RGB, fancy heatspreads and all that stuff, right But then again, if you’re just looking for something basic that can fill you in with just the right stuff without all the glamour and the lofty price tags, then green PCB memory modules might be your thing. Or perhaps, something that shoots for reliability above performance? With that said, here comes Transcend’s JetRam, coming in hot with all the greens. And that’s what we’re going to take a look at today.

UNBOXING AND DESIGN


Transcend’s JetRam memory modules arrive in the company’s usual packaging, in common clear plastic. Pop that open and you’ll get the stick together with some pamphlets. That’s about it. We have two of these, totaling to 16GB.


Design-wise, what are you expecting, really? It’s quite the generic green PCB that’s just plain basic.

AIDA64 Memory Benchmark Tool

AIDA64 comes with a memory benchmark tool that tests out the read, write, copy, and latency of the system memory.

wPrime

wPrime is an industry standard benchmarking tool that test out a processor's performance by calculating square roots with a recursive call of Newton's method of estimating functions.



Super Pi

Super PI is a single threaded benchmark that calculates pi to a specific number of digits. Results in 32M tests are recorded.

CINEBENCH 

MAXON's CINEBENCH is a real-world cross platform test suite that tests out a computer's performance capabilities. It's an industry standard tool for benchmarking based on MAXON's award-winning animation software Cinema 4D.


WINRAR Benchmark Tool

WINRAR has a built-in benchmark toolthat tests out the compression performance of the system that outputs a resulting speed in KB/s to index performance.

We pitted the Transcend JetRam with a 16GB 3600Mhz RAM through with XMP to see how it would compare against gaming-centric offerings, below are the results:

The Transcend JetRam DDR4-2666 can get the job done. It being a generic offering also makes itself a viable offering if you're simply looking for something reliable even without flashy specs. All of that is what Transcend shoots for with this one. 

To add to that, Transcend's JetRam are manufactured with true ETT grade, brand-name DRAM chips that have passed through the company's strict screening process and tests. Back that up with a limited lifetime warranty and the Transcend JetRam DDR4-2666 can be worth your time and money.
