Xiaomi on the Offensive with Three New Smartphones

Xiaomi is on the offensive during its event today, and the Chinese smartphone giant goes all out with releasing three new devices in one go. The Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and the Mi 8 SE.

The Mi 8 is the company’s flagship phone, and its very first one with that notch. Yes, that will now be a mainstay on smartphones of today, so don’t bother wishing for it to go away anytime soon. Moving forward, the Mi 8 comes with a whopping 6.21-inch OLED screen. It’s classy as !@#$ with its curved glass back panel and aluminum frame, too.

When it comes to internals, you’re going to love the numbers here – there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset inside, 6GB of RAM, a 12MP dual camera setup, a non removable 3,400mAh battery, and it has Android 8.1 Oreo inside.

Now, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, which is arbitrarily named, comes with basically somewhat the same internals, albeit with a few key differences like 128GB/8GB RAM setup and a shrunk down battery at 3000mAh. The very important ones being that smexy transparent back panel, and an in-display fingerprint sensor with pressure sensitivity.

Xiaomi also could be taking after Apple’s naming convention with its third entry, the Mi 8 SE. Think of it as a smaller, less powerful version of the Mi 8 that’s both compact and cheap. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, 4GB/64GB or 6GB/64GB setup options, a 12MP dual camera setup, and a non-removable 3120 mAh battery.
