TEAMGROUP T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB DDR4 Review

Xtreem probably isn't the best suited moniker for this. Whatever the case, the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB DDR4 memory certainly looks fancy.

DDR4 is still alive and kicking strong. While the new DDR5 standard gives a promising outlook for blazing fast speeds, the AM4 platform is still afloat with new CPU refreshes coming along the way. Not to mention some 14th gen Intel motherboards do make room for DDR4, so we’ll likely see more products in this category. With that said, what we have here today is TEAMGROUP’s T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB DDR4-4000. And that’s what we’re going to look at today. 

PACKAGING 

The TEAMGROUP T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB DDR4 kit arrives in a fancy box, protected with a sleeve that presents the DIMMs as well as features and specs among other things. Nice to see when other offerings present theirs in blister packs.

There are two plastic shells inside, with one housing the pair, and another with a TEAMGROUP sticker and a microfiber cloth for cleaning the DIMMs. That said, this seems to be the packaging across the board as it could work for kits of 2 or 4 per box. 

DESIGN 

Very much aware of how much the word “classy” is thrown around and used a lot, but my god the XTREEM ARGB is definitely in a league of its own, polished to perfection. It stays far from the angular, edgy designs that we’ve seen from other kits, as well as some of TEAMGROUP’s, and it’s keep things understated yet premium when it comes to that.  

There are no outward RGB strips at the top, with the lighting diffused by the mirror design all around the RAM itself. There’s a streak of reflective mirror in between these, with the XTREEM ARGB branding on it and a T-FORCE logo at the top. Could do without it, but it’s minimal and really not at all distracting. 

Now, we’re just nitpicking here, but these are a fingerprint magnet. Touch these with your bare hands and you’ll really have to wipe it all clean thoroughly just to get rid of your fingerprints. This is why TEAMGROUP also includes a microfiber cloth. Would have been better if gloves were included as well, but ehh can’t complain.

AIDA64 Memory Benchmark Tool 

AIDA64 comes with a memory benchmark tool that tests out the read, write, copy, and latency of the system memory.  

Passmark Memory Benchmark 

Passmark features a memory benchmark that performs several tests including Database Operations, Memory Read Cached, Memory Read Uncached, Memory Write, Available RAM, Memory Latency, and Memory Threaded.   

Cinebench R23

Cinebench R23 provides improved benchmark accuracy for current and next generation CPUs to test if a machine runs stable on a high CPU load, if the cooling solution of a desktop or notebook is sufficient for longer running tasks to deliver the full potential of the CPU, and if a machine is able to handle demanding real-life 3D tasks.

Winrar

WinRAR 7.00 features a benchmark tool that also allows its users to specify the number of threads and easily copy results to the clipboard. This update provides valuable insights into WinRAR's performance on different hardware setups, allowing for further optimization and efficiency.

wPrime Benchmark 

wPrime is an industry standard benchmarking tool that test out a processor's performance by calculating square roots with a recursive call of Newton's method of estimating functions 

Realbench

Realbench is a benchmark tool that utilizes open-source applications and simple scripting to simulate real-world performance of a PC system

Super Pi 

Super PI is a single threaded benchmark that calculates pi to a specific number of digits. Results in 32M tests are recorded. 

PCMark 10 Extended

PCMark 10 Extended is a longer benchmark that covers a wider range of activities. It provides organizations with a complete assessment of system performance beyond typical office work tasks.

God of War 

God of War is now on PC and looks beautiful. So what better way to crank it up all to Ultra and play from there.

Horizon Forbidden West

RGB/SOFTWARE 

As much as I would like to skip RGB lighting and all that, the T-Force Xtreem ARGB of course also has that and it’s something that we’ll utilize because it’s there. Now, for RGB customization controls, you’ll be relying on your motherboard’s RGB software. TEAMGROUP unfortunately doesn’t have a standalone software to do that, but I guess that’s at least less software for you to handle and worry about.  

CONCLUSION

The competition is fierce still in the DDR4 space, and you've got a healthy serving of options that would fit nicely with your setup. As for the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB DDR4-4000, it's certainly one of the fanciest looking kits without it even trying. The full mirror finish gives it a shine like no other, with that diffused RGB glow for that understated yet cool-looking lightshow. Performance-wise, the XMP Profile is stable on our test system as reviewed, but manual tuning could probably get us further. Still, nowadays, it's a matter of taking the path of least resistance and move from there if necessary.

Moving forward, finding this specific 32GB kit here locally isn't exactly easy, but I did find a 16GB kit priced at around Php5,495 from an online listing. Some internet sleuthing here needed, so if you find one, let us know in the comments section as well and we'll include it here.

When all is said and done, it's really great to see the longevity of DDR4. Those who still have the platform for it and refusing to upgrade to next gen pretty much have good reasons given the support and performance it still has. The TEAMGROUP T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB DDR4 is a testament to that, sweetening it further with solid performance and elegant design.
