Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 Arrives October 21 With Phoenix, Severian, and Mech Combat

Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 launches October 21 with new S-Rank Agents Phoenix and Severian, mech combat, seasonal events, and free rewards.

HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3, titled "Journey to the Sky," will launch on October 21, 2026. The update introduces two new S-Rank Agents, Phoenix and Severian, alongside a new mech combat system that lets Proxies pilot combat mechs, infiltrate enemy bases, and take on enemies with a combination of melee and ranged attacks. The update also brings new story content, limited-time events, Agent outfits, gameplay improvements, and rewards for players.

Version 3.3 Continues the Battle Over Roscaelifer

We've been left hanging with what happened to Roxy, and it seems more will unfold as "Journey to the Sky" raises the stakes higher with Booastrum on a lockdown, leaving the occupied skyport of Quietude Isle as the only way back in.

With no choice but to work together, Judge Phoenix and Commissioner Severian must set aside their differences to face the challenges ahead. Proxies will also travel to the island alongside Lindverne, moving closer to uncovering the truth behind the three Sunbringers and the Karma Cores within them.

Meet the New S-Rank Agents: Phoenix and Severian

Version 3.3 introduces two S-Rank Agents with distinct combat styles. Phoenix arrives in the first half of the update, followed by Severian in the second half.

Phoenix: S-Rank Fire Anomaly Agent

Phoenix is the Krampus Compliance Authority's second-in-command in combat. Her unique physique makes her exceptionally difficult to bring down, and the fiercer her opponents resist, the more her fighting spirit grows.

Her Core Skill, Nirvana, allows her to sear enemies affected by an Anomaly, enabling subsequent Anomaly DMG dealt to them to trigger a critical hit. Phoenix also has a way to return to battle after suffering a fatal strike. Her Rebirth ability revives her on the spot with full health, allowing her to jump straight back into the fight.

Phoenix will debut in the first half of Version 3.3 alongside her S-Rank W-Engine, Plume of Rebirth.

Severian: S-Rank Wind Attack Agent

Severian is a senior commissioner at New Eridu Public Security who believes necessary violence can be justified in the pursuit of true order. His Core Skill, Endless Breeze, allows him to automatically dodge incoming attacks and use the momentum to launch a counterattack.

After successfully dodging or hitting enemies with a specific skill, Severian can build up Energy to unleash more powerful continuous slashes. He will arrive in the second half of the update alongside his S-Rank W-Engine, Incarcerating Grip.

Several existing characters and W-Engines will also return through rerun channels. S-Rank Agent Velina and the W-Engine Joyau Dore will return in the first half, while Norma and the W-Engine Chief Sidekick will be available again in the second half.

New Agent Outfits and Customization Rewards

Phoenix will receive two new outfits, available together as a bundle with a limited-time 30% discount. Severian's everyday uniform, Solemnly Impeccable, will also become available in the store when his Signal Search channel opens in the second half of Version 3.3.

The update will add new avatars, dynamic wallpapers, and Trust Events for both Agents. Players can also claim a new sidebar theme and pendant through the in-game New Eridu City Fund.

New Events Bring Trickmobiles, Bangboo Repairs, and More

Version 3.3 introduces several events featuring new activities and rewards. In "Night of Supernatural Tricks," businesses across Lumina Square team up for a supernatural-themed celebration, while the HIA Club introduces a new VR game called "Spooky Funhouse Tales."

Players can drive different styles of Trickmobiles and scare away uninvited guests from the funhouse. Rewards include an Angels of Delusion outfit, a new A-Rank W-Engine, and additional Proxy accessories.

Other events coming with the update include:

• Cyber Miracle Healer, on Duty! Proxies must repair Bangboo that have gone haywire after accidentally eating "toxic" chips.
• Trails of the Hobbling Crow: Track down the culprit responsible for attacking Crowe.
• Repair! Drifting Art: Reassemble painting fragments that have been lost at sea.

The familiar Area Patrol and Combat Simulation double-drop events will also return, giving players another opportunity to collect in-game resources.

New Mech Combat Gameplay

One of the biggest additions in Version 3.3 is a new mech combat experience integrated into the main story. Lindverne will use her Karma Core ability, Genesis Reconstruction, to create multiple High Ambitions Corp. combat mechs that Proxies can pilot against enemy forces.

The mechs feature interchangeable melee and ranged attack modes, allowing players to switch between close-quarters combat and attacks from a distance. After using an EX Special Attack or dodging enemy attacks, players can unleash a more powerful laser attack.

The environment also plays a role in combat and puzzle-solving. Players can shoot explosives to trigger environmental effects or throw heavy punches to launch large objects. HoYoverse confirmed that this mech gameplay will remain available in future versions, rather than being limited to the Version 3.3 story.

Enigma of the Labyrinth Gets a New Seasonal Challenge

The permanent Hollow exploration, combat, and extraction mode Enigma of the Labyrinth will receive a seasonal update called Spooky Trial. A Devilboo instructor known as Master Devil will challenge Proxies to complete three progressively difficult rounds.

During the trials, players can obtain Candle Cores and compare offers from shops owned by their friends or members of their Outpost group to sell them for the best price.

Team Recommendations and Other Quality-of-Life Improvements

Version 3.3 introduces several system improvements designed to help players build teams and understand combat mechanics more easily. Fairy will gain a team recommendation feature that suggests lineups, strategies, and basic operational guidance based on the Agents already in a player's roster. Recommended lineups can also be applied to a preset configuration with a single click.

Some Agents will receive dedicated tutorial videos to help players learn their mechanics more quickly. During squad configuration in certain permanent combat modes, the system will also provide challenge tips based on the number of deployed squad members, their enhancement progress, and overall team synergy. Players can jump directly to relevant guides with a single click.

The update will also make Inter-Knot Reputation promotion benefits easier to understand, with guidance and reminders based on a player's Inter-Knot level and promotion progress.

As part of the new version's check-in events, players can claim a total of 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.

Multiple Agents and Bangboo will also be coming to Discord. Starting October 21, players can link their accounts to sync their in-game activity to their Discord profiles.
