Looking back a couple of years ago, the PC probably isn’t the best place to start with if you’re itching for that sweet Japanese-made RPG. Most of the heavy stuff out there for the JRPG nut including Xenogears, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, and the like are only available on consoles, and you needed to put your thinking cap on if you’re dead set on experiencing them sans the PC.

Thankfully, that isn’t the case anymore as Japanese developers and publishers include the PC as one of the platforms for their games. That is, if you don’t mind the shoddy port for some of them. Well, here’s what you can look forward to.

1. Code Vein (2018)

Anime and vampires are probably two you don’t usually pair together outside of Hellsing. However, Bandai Namco thinks its high time to make a video game out of that genre, but with Dark Souls battle system and difficulty. You know what, we’ll just stick to calling it Anime Bloodborne.

2. Edge of Eternity  (2018)

Here’s another thing you don’t usually come across as often – indie JRPGs. Well, there have been a lot of them made with RPG Maker that are up on Steam, but those probably aren’t up to your par. On that note, Midgar Studio wants to make a tribute to JRPG classics by making one themselves.

3. Secret of Mana (2018)

Square Enix is at least working on porting them classic gems to the PC, but they are also hard at work in remaking what many consider as one of the best RPGs of all time, Secret of Mana. Experience it next year on full 3D.

4. Lost Sphear (2018)

Okay, if there’s Squre Enix in there, 9 times out of 10, it’s a JRPG. Lost Sphear sets to bring a fresh take on the classic RPG gameplay. It’s from the makers of I am Setsuna, so ‘nuff said. I guess?

5. .Hack //G.U. Last Recode (2017)

Despite dothack’s popularity in consoles, it never really hit the PC. That is, until Bamco decides to remaster every possible popular title it has from the yesteryears. Haseo’s story is probably the most popular in the franchise, so remastering it is easily for the best. But yeah, expect Denuvo.

6. God Eater 3 ( 2018)

More like, Anime Monster hunter, amirite? Oh come on like this even needs more description.

7. Final Fantasy XV (2018)

We’ve had our fair share of Final Fantasy XV plus all of its DLCs thus far. And while we can’t really regard it as one of the best in the franchise when it comes to battle system and storytelling, it does become a must play because it has Final Fantasy in its name.

8. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II (TBC)

XSEED is building up its way to PCMR stardom as it localizes and ports almost every popular Falcom titles out there. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II is slated to be released on PC. But we all know we’re waiting for Zero no Kiseki.

9. Unsung Story (TBC)

Yasumi Matsuno’s project and yet another Kickstarter success story is now being developed by the makers of Barbie and Her Sisters: Puppy Rescue. But you know what, we’re giving Little Orbit a chance on this one.

10. Shenmue III (2018)

Here's the oddball in this list. Many people probably don’t regard Shenmue as a JRPG, semantics and all. But whatever the case, it still holds up as one of the most sought after titles. And thanks to its Kickstarter campaign, we’re finally getting it after so many years of waiting.
