QLOC is currently hard at work to bring us eye-candy Lordran and plenty of You Died screens in high-defo for the current platforms. However, while the PS4, Xbox One, and PC players will get to enjoy it when it releases in a couple of weeks, it seems Dark Souls Remastered is going to be pushed back to Summer.

Bandai Namco announced recently that Dark Souls Remastered on the Nintendo Switch is delayed until “later this summer”, but it will arrive alongside the Solaire of Astora amiibo to commemorate the release. “The new release timing gives the development team the time needed to make sure Nintendo Switch players can fully appreciate the true DARK SOULS experience anytime and anywhere, thanks to the unique portable nature of the Nintendo Switch console,” the publisher said.

There are currently plenty of videos up on YouTube about the changes that were made in the remaster. The majority of these are plain cosmetics, and it was a bit of a shot at the moon to wish for the first Dark Souls to be remade with Dark Souls 3’s engine. Still, this can be a good entry point for newcomers to the Souls franchise, and it’s not a bad port if you want to play it while you’re on the move.

Bandai Namco says that the delay will only happen on Switch, while other platforms will keep track of their intended release dates next month. Do take note, the Nintendo eShop page for Dark Souls Remastered still has it pegged for a May 25th release. This will likely change soon.
